1. Confirm custody and booking
Search the official county inmate system or call the detention facility. New arrests may not appear immediately while identity, charges, and custody records are being processed.
2. Confirm the bond details
Ask for the amount, allowed bond type, case number, court, and any hold that could prevent release. Some people must wait for a hearing before a bond can be set or changed.
3. Choose an allowed posting option
Compare cash, professional surety, personal recognizance, and property options only when the court permits them. Consider the upfront cash, nonrefundable premium, collateral exposure, and paperwork required.
4. Plan for release and the next court date
After posting, detention staff still complete internal release checks. Keep the defendant’s paperwork, calendar every hearing, and report changes in contact information to the appropriate court and surety when required.
